A. Clubs
Women’s Group
This club is for high school girls who want to learn to build their self-esteem, reach for their goals, and inform each other on various issues going on in the world. My senior year I brought this club back to our school.

Interact
Interact is a club whose sole purpose is to have a positive impact on its community. We are involved in various community service projects throughout the year.

Speech and Debate
My junior year I competed in Impromptu and my senior year I competed in Prose. I placed in district my junior year.

Journalism
My first year, I was in charge of taking pictures for the yearbook as well as designing class pages. The next year I wrote articles for our school newspaper and my last year I was chosen to be co-Editor in Chief.

Wilderness Club
This club is new to my school. Its purpose is to teach students basic survival skills which are then used during our backpacking trips.

Architecture and Design Team
Throughout the year I worked on designing a Gazebo to be put on campus and created a plan for restoring the nature trails at the back of our school.

Softball
Not only did I play center field and short stop, but my duties also varied from being designated hitter, recording the team’s statistics and caring for the equipment

Chores Captain
During Chores, students are appointed to work in groups at different areas throughout the school with older students as captains. Captains are responsible for their group and are in charge of making sure each person is doing his/her job.

Tutor
I tutored two middle school girls in Math, Science and History my sophomore and junior year. I helped both of them raise their failing grades to solid Bs.

Laptop Monitor
Upperclassmen are in charge of assigning laptops to students who need them the most during study hall.

Crew Captain
At lunch, girls are placed into different groups that are in charge of lunch duties for a certain day. As Captain, I’m in charge of assigning each girl a different task, checking to see if everyone is working efficiently and making sure everything is running smoothly.

Computer Lab Monitor
During lunch, students are chosen to be proctors for study sessions held in the computer lab and are responsible for keeping an atmosphere in which other students can work.

D. Off-Campus Activities:
Red Rowdies
This is a group for the Houston Rockets’ most dedicated and crazed fanatics. Each person has to try out in order to have a seat reserved in the Rowdies’ section at every home game. Our job is to stand up, cheer and get the crowd motivated the whole game.

Literacy through Photography
I did various projects through FotoFest’s Literacy through Photography program which were displayed at FotoFence 2011.

Each year, the schools from our district meet together all weekend in order to present a culmination of the community service projects we’ve done.

EMERGE Fellowship
Students that are bright, driven and come from low-income families are chosen to be in EMERGE and receive help and guidance so they can get into the nation’s top universities.
12th grade 3 hours a week/35 weeks per year

II. Community Service
Special Rodeo
Each year, I’ve volunteered at the Baytown Special Rodeo. Each person gets assigned a special needs kid. Our job is to make sure the kids have a fun time riding on horses and playing games.
9th 10th 11th 12th grades 5 hours a day/1 day per year
Shell Houston Open
Once a year, students go all day to the Shell Houston golf tournament and volunteer to walk 18 holes alongside the golfers while carrying the scoreboards.
10th 11th grade 8 hours per day/7 days per year
Thanksgiving Dinner
Every year I volunteer at the George R. Brown convention center on Thanksgiving Day. Volunteers spend all morning serving “thanksgiving dinners” to the less fortunate.

H2O Project
The goal is to drink only water for 2 weeks and give the money you would have spent on other beverages to charity. The money helps build wells for people in third world countries that will give them access to clean water.

End Polio Now
I’ve volunteered to give out shirts at an Astros game in order to spread awareness about polio and raised money within my school to help eradicate it in impoverished countries.

Special Olympics
For the past two years I’ve volunteered at the Baytown Special Olympics. I’ve set up the different “events” as well as helped to judge them.

IV. Employment/Internships/Summer Activities
Cleaning Service
During my sophomore and junior year, I worked with my mom as a housekeeper. She and I would clean people’s houses every weekend during the school year. In the summer, I would be in charge of babysitting the four children of the house. I would have to clean, do laundry, and cook until their mother would come home from work.
Daycare Transport May 30th – August 19th, 2011
Every morning last summer, I was in charge of taking my half-brother to daycare. I was responsible for making sure he showered, got dressed and ate breakfast before I drove him to his daycare facility. In the afternoons, I had to check him out and babysit him until my father got out of work.
